🌸 Hospital Bag Checklist

🌸 Hospital Bag Checklist

Packing your hospital bag is one of the most exciting steps in pregnancy. It means you’re ready for hospital at a moment’s notice — and that you’re so close to meeting your beautiful baby. Whether it’s your first bub or not, being organised brings peace of mind and helps you feel supported in those first days.

We recommend packing three smaller bags: one for baby, one for mum, and one for labour. That way, if your partner or support person needs to grab something, they can find it quickly without rummaging.

👶 Baby Bag

  • Nappies – at least one pack (some hospitals don’t supply them anymore)

  • Baby wipes – gentle, fragrance-free (like WaterWipes or Tooshies)

  • Singlets – perfect for layering in cool hospital rooms

  • Wonder suits – zip-ups (Bonds, PureBaby, Love to Dream) are easiest

  • Going-home outfit – special but comfy

  • Mittens – or suits with built-in hand covers

  • Socks/booties – always handy to have extras

  • Muslin wraps & stretchy swaddles – different textures for different needs

  • Baby blanket – for warmth on the way home

  • Face cloths – for little spills and spews

  • Dummy – optional, but can be useful (ensure sterilised)

  • Plastic/wet bag – for dirty clothes

🤱 Mum’s Bag

  • Nursing bras (x2) – seamless and comfy

  • Loose, comfortable clothes – maternity leggings, oversized tees

  • PJs/nightie – button-front for easy breastfeeding

  • Toiletries – shampoo, conditioner, body wash, moisturiser, deodorant

  • Make-up & hairdryer (optional but can lift your spirits)

  • Nipple cream – Lansinoh or MooGoo remain popular

  • Breast pads – reusable bamboo are soft and eco-friendly

  • Breast pump (optional) – Spectra or Elvie are well-loved in 2025

  • Slippers or slides – easy on/off

  • Snacks – lactation cookies, The Milk Pantry Mumma Shakes, Mumma Muesli, and Mumma Hydration sachets

  • Sample-size Milk Pantry products – perfect for quick, nourishing boosts between feeds

  • Pre-baked Milk Pantry cookies – pack a container so they’re ready to go for those long nights

  • Water bottle – large, insulated, straw lid

  • Phone charger with long cord

  • Notebook & pen/list of announcements

  • Comfortable undies – high-waisted, C-section friendly or disposable postpartum underwear

  • Maternity pads/adult nappies – for those heavy first few days

  • Ural sachets – helps with stinging when you wee post-birth

  • Pillow – or breastfeeding pillow if you prefer

  • Plastic/wet bag – for dirty clothes

  • Comfort items – essential oils roller, Kindle, or headphones

🌺 Labour Bag

  • Electrolyte drinks – Hydralyte, BodyArmor, or coconut water

  • Snacks – muesli bars, bliss balls, lollies, nuts

  • Water bottle with straw lid

  • Partner’s swimwear – if a birthing pool/shower is available

  • Thongs/slides – for showering

  • Dark-coloured nightie/dress – easy to slip on

  • Face washer/cooling cloth

  • Lip balm – hospital air can be drying

  • Hair ties/clips

  • Massage oil/roller ball

  • Music or meditation app – bring a portable speaker or headphones

✨ 2025 Milk Pantry Tip: Pack a small stash of nourishing, milk-boosting goodies. Having Mumma Hydration, a shake sachet, or a few cookies on hand can make all the difference during those late-night feeds when the hospital kitchen is closed.

🌿 Happy Packing, Mumma!
Every journey is unique — take what feels right for you. And remember: a little preparation goes a long way in helping you feel calm, confident, and ready for bub’s arrival. 💕
